Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Communities in the Roots of Sago Palm in Mineral and Shallow Peat Soils

Communities of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in plant roots improve host growth. In this study, AMF communities the sago palm (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.) were investigated mineral soil (MS) and shallow peat (SPS) Sarawak, Malaysia. MS exhibited lower moisture content (MS, 38.1; SPS, 79.8%), higher pH (H2O) 4.6; 4.1), bulk density 1.03; 0.20 g cm?3), nitrogen 16.9; 2.7 kg m?3) than SPS at same depth, while phosphorus (P) (Bray II) 1.6; 1.9 P2O5 was similar. The colonization rate significantly (39.2 ± 12.5%) (73.2 4.6%). number operational taxonomic units (OTUs) detected by amplicon sequencing partial small-subunit rRNA gene 78; 50). A neighbor-joining tree obtained OTUs revealed that they belonged to Acaulosporaceae, Ambisporaceae, Claroideoglomeraceae, Gigasporaceae, Glomeraceae. abundance diversity are possibly caused abiotic factors, including physicochemical properties. Glomus Acaulospora species might have strong tolerance against acidity high content.
